College majors? ?

I want to major in meteorology but found only 16 colleges in the country. Some other colleges offered Atmospheric science. Is Atmospheric science meteorology? Also, how much would it help me get accepted in a college and get hired as a meteorologists if I become an intern for the National Weather Service. What is the main job of the intern? Sources?
