I don't get it, what do Republicans actually stand for?

Republicans actually stand for protecting the rich at all costs. Republicans are going back on their word to not fund unemployment without paying for it. They could have extended tax cuts for the middle cl and funded unemployment by ending tax cuts for the extremely rich. This would have allowed them to pay for unemployment. Instead it was more important for them to protect the rich from returning to the Clinton tax rates than keep their word.
